Spirit Week
Elden Updates
Last week we kicked off our PARP, One School One Book, event. Our amazing PTA has so many wonderful events planned for our students during PARP. Activities include a spirit week, reading with friends bulletin board, and "ask Reddi" where students can ask our therapy dog Reddi questions and she will answer them!

On Friday, we had some fun at a building-wide assembly. It was amazing to have our entire school together to start the day. We celebrated our January Positivity Project nominees for perseverance, prudence, and optimism. We also laughed together at some silly dogs, like Fenway in Fenway and Hattie, our PARP book. Three fifth graders helped me MC the event, and they did such an amazing job. Thank you Elliot Ryan, Tiffany Stark, and Victoria Arnold!

This week is our PARP spirit week, days are pictured above. There is no school on Wednesday, and report cards will be available in SchoolTool on Friday.

I want to take a brief moment to mention that I am devastated for our Baldwinsville Families who were affected by the New Legacy Apartment fire this past weekend. The way our community has come together already, with donations of all kinds being dropped off at our district operations building, is nothing short of incredible. This community never ceases to amaze me. Thank you all, and I know we will continue to come together to support those who were affected by the fire.

I am looking forward to a wonderful week Elden!

Word of the Day Slide
Elden Word of the Day
We implemented a "word of the day" here at Elden, because we recognize the important role that vocabulary can play in learning to read. Each day, one new vocabulary word will be shared with the entire school via our morning announcements.

Here are our vocabulary words for this week:
January 27: debut
January 28: gripe
January 30: assertive
January 31: snicker

Elden Notice to School
Please remember to complete the Elden Notice to School to keep us informed of student absences, late arrivals, and dismissal changes.

It is especially important that we know if your student(s) will be picked up as students being picked up need to be in the APR ready to go by 3:00. The earlier you can submit these changes to us the smoother everything runs.

Thank you!

Positivity Project
This week, our school community will focus on the character strength of Social Intelligence. Social intelligence means understanding other people's thoughts and feelings and why they act the way they do.

Social intelligence helps us build good relationships by being aware of others’ emotions and behaviors. It is different from "book smarts" and grows with experience. It also allows people to connect, form friendships, and protect themselves from being taken advantage of. It also helps us read facial expressions and understand what motivates others.
