Dear Parents, Guardians, and Staff,
May is a very busy time of year in our Hive. If you take a look at the school calendar you will see nearly every day has an event, concert or special activity. There a few special events that I want to bring to your attention:
May 5th to May 9th is Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week
May 7th in Culture Fest at C.W. Baker High School
May 12th is Meet the Board Candidates Night and Public Budget Hearing
May 19th is the Special Champions Event
May 20th is our School Budget Vote
You can check out our online calendars for times and locations and for other important activities. May is also Mental Health Awareness Month. Today was our district-wide green out to kick off the month. You can check out our website for more events, activities and a daily calendar. Mental Health Awareness Month helps raise awareness, reduce stigma, and build connection and belonging. The Bee Well Paint-A-Thon will take place on Saturday in the village. The District Mental Wellness Committee, in partnership with the Town of Lysander Parks and Recreation, is hosting the event. At the end of the day, dozens of village windows will be decorated with uplifting messages and inspiring artwork.
I have a few other announcements to share with you today:

Annual Budget Vote and Board Elections:
Baldwinsville Central School District residents will go to the polls on Tuesday, May 20th to vote on the proposed 2025-2026 school year budget, which maintains programs and staffing while continuing to work toward the district’s goals and mission. You can learn more about the budget by listening to a podcast that gives an overview of the budget, budget process and information on the vote. The 16-minute podcast was generated by AI. Check it out here. A budget video produced by our Baker film students will be released next Friday. Stay tuned!
Voting will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20th and held at the District Operations Building, located on the main campus. Our budget newsletter will be arriving in the mailboxes of district residents soon. You can check it out now on our website. You can visit our budget website for more information and to download applications for absentee, military and early voter ballots. The Meet the Board of Education Candidates and Public Budget Hearing will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, May 12th at the District Transportation Center.
