Elden Updates
Happy Monday Elden Families! I hope everyone had a great weekend.

We have a busy schedule at Elden this week including picture day, parent/teacher conferences, and our first assembly. Due to the parent/teacher conferences on Thursday, students do not have school. Enjoy the day off Eagles!

It is hard to believe we are already entering October. This will be a fun month full of activities including our Socktober collection/competition, author Ross Burach's visit, Trunk-or-Treat, the book fair, and more. I am looking forward to all the fun we will have!

Socktober
Miss Manning is bringing Socktober back for another year! Socktober is a mixture of the words Socks and October. Throughout the whole month of October, students and staff can donate new pairs of socks. At the end of October, all of the donated socks are given to PEACE Inc in Baldwinsville.

Elden Elementary has had huge success with Socktober. Last year, Elden collected 1,679 pairs of socks! Each year we have a grade level competition to see which grade level brings in the most socks. Last year, the winning grade level won a pizza party provided by the PTA.

Socktober is an excellent way for schools to demonstrate the different Positivity Project Character Traits of Teamwork, Kindness, Supporting Others When They Struggle, Purpose, Other People Mindset, Compassion, and Love.

Positivity Project
This week, our school will focus on the character strength of Open-Mindedness. This means being willing to consider new ideas and try new things. It involves looking at situations from all sides and not jumping to conclusions.

Open-mindedness is about seeking out and fairly weighing evidence, even if it goes against our own opinions or goals. Open-minded people listen to different viewpoints, including those that are less popular. They are often good listeners and provide balanced advice, which makes them great friends and confidants. This strength helps individuals form meaningful and lasting relationships.

To practice and encourage the character strength of open-mindedness at home, please visit the Positivity Project’s mobile-friendly P2 for Families. This is a great resource!
