The Baldwinsville Central School District is pleased to announce three appointments by the Board of Education.
Jennifer Terpening was named the next principal of C.W. Baker High School. Amy Klymkow was named the next principal of Van Buren Elementary School. Tori Sivers was named assistant principal at Ray Middle School. The appointments are effective on July 1, 2025.
Mrs. Terpening has been a dedicated member of the C.W. Baker High School community for nine years, serving as assistant principal for eight years and stepping into the role of acting principal during the 2022-2023 school year.
“Mrs. Terpening has demonstrated outstanding leadership and a deep commitment to the success of both students and staff,” said Superintendent Dr. Joseph M. DeBarbieri. “Her experience and dedication make her the ideal choice to lead our high school.”
Before joining C.W. Baker High School, Mrs. Terpening was a chemistry teacher in the Liverpool Central School District and Jordan-Elbridge School District, where she also coached the Girls' Varsity Tennis Team. Beyond her professional roles, she actively contributes to the community as a board member of the Baldwinsville Community Scholarship Foundation.
“I am honored to be stepping into the high school principal role at C.W. Baker High School,” Mrs. Terpening said. “Throughout my career, I have been inspired by educators who have shaped my belief that leadership is about empowering teachers to uplift students and each other. I am hopeful that we, at Baker, will be able to create a nurturing environment where every student, family and staff member feels supported while maintaining a sense of collective belonging and high academic rigor.”
Ms. Klymkow said she is thrilled to return to Van Buren Elementary School as principal, where she previously served as an administrative intern during the 2022-2023 school year.
Ms. Klymkow’s passion for elementary education and literacy is built upon a decade of teaching experience, spanning kindergarten through third grade, including special education. She joined the district in 2015 as a third grade teacher at Palmer Elementary School before transitioning to kindergarten, where she taught for four years. During this time, she also began pursuing her Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Educational Leadership at Le Moyne College.
Currently, Ms. Klymkow serves as assistant principal at Ray Middle School, where she has focused on data-driven leadership and enhancing grade-level literacy initiatives.
“Ms. Klymkow is committed to creating positive and supportive learning environments for all students,” Dr. DeBarbieri said. “She is a perfect fit to lead Van Buren Elementary School.”
Ms. Sivers will fill the assistant principal position at Ray Middle School. This is a homecoming for Ms. Sivers who previously taught 1st grade for 10 years at Van Buren Elementary. Last year, she completed her administrative internship at Ray Middle School. Currently, Ms. Sivers is serving as the assistant principal at Michael A. Maroun Elementary in the Phoenix Central School District.
“We are so excited to have Ms. Sivers return to our district,” Dr. DeBarbieri said. “She’s a strong leader who is passionate about students’ success.”
Ms. Sivers said she’s thrilled to return to Baldwinsville in this new role.
“It is an exciting opportunity, and I look forward to collaborating with the dedicated staff and engaging with the students at Ray Middle School,” she said. “Together, I believe we can continue to build a positive, supportive, and enriching environment that fosters both academic and personal growth for all. I am eager to contribute to the school's success and to help guide our students toward achieving their fullest potential.”
C.W. Baker High School Principal Kris Denton was previously appointed by the Board of Education as the new Director of Academic Services, Visual and Performing Arts. Van Buren Principal Cindy Cronin will retire in October 2025.
