Dear Elden Students, Families, and Staff:

Happy Monday!

We had such a great week at Elden! Our first assembly was a big success—students and staff showed their school spirit, and everyone had a wonderful time. We also took time to honor the students nominated for our first four Positivity Project character traits—congratulations to all who were recognized! A highlight video is posted on our Facebook page, and photos from the assembly are posted below.

We’re also proud of how well our students did during our emergency evacuation drill—great job, everyone!

Looking ahead, this week is full of exciting events. Our Scholastic Book Fair will be open during the school day, and Thursday evening will be packed with fun: our Book Fair Family Night, Trunk-or-Treat, and RTI Family Night all take place that evening—we hope to see you there! Don’t forget, there’s also a District Community Café on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.

Second Annual Buddy Walk in Honor of Down Syndrome Awareness Month

Staff Spotlight:

Katie Mesagna, 2nd Grade

Hi everyone!

I am beginning my second year as a second grade teacher. Previously, I was a special education teacher for 7 years. I am so excited to be an Elden Eagle and help every eagle soar!

In my spare time, I love running, reading, and spending time with my husband, our two young children, and our dog.

The Positivity Project:

P2 Weekly Character Traits

This week, our school will focus on the character strength of Creativity. Creativity means coming up with new and original ways to think about and do things.

Creative people see the world differently. They are open to new experiences and think independently. They come up with many ideas and pursue them with energy and enthusiasm. Creativity takes courage because sharing original ideas can sometimes lead to criticism.

Creativity is vital to our world! Creative solutions can help resolve conflicts and find compromises that satisfy everyone involved, strengthening relationships. It helps us solve tough problems, create new things, and see the world in fresh ways. Examples include treatments for deadly illnesses, such as cancer, the invention of the cell phone, and the development of solar panels. Imagine life without Impressionist paintings or the creation of airplanes and rocket ships.
