Dear Elden Students, Families, and Staff:

Good Morning!

I hope you all enjoyed a restful Thanksgiving break! I am so excited to welcome our students back and kick off the first week of December together. This is always an exciting time of year at Elden, and we are looking forward to all the learning and celebrations ahead.

This week, our second graders will be heading out on their field trip to see the Nutcracker Ballet. What a special experience that brings the arts to life for our students. Additionally, report cards will be available on Friday. As always, please reach out if you have any questions or need support reviewing your child’s progress.

We’re excited for a great start to December and appreciate your continued partnership with our school community.

Staff Spotlight:

Melissa Strikis, First Grade Teaching Assistant

Hello, I am Melssa Strikis and I am a Teaching Assistant here at Elden. This is my 5th year and I so enjoy working with the little eagles in grades Kindergarten and 1st grade.

I love watching how young children's minds work; they are amazing! What I enjoy most about working with the little eagles is the relationships I have been able to build with them. It's amazing to watch, and be a part of, their growth.

When I'm not at school I enjoy reading, watching movies and shopping. I'm also busy running my two youngest kids, 15 and 13, around town to their numerous activities.

P2 Weekly Character Traits

This week, our school community will focus on the character strength of Kindness. Kindness means being generous to others, never being too busy to help out, and you enjoy doing good deeds for other people.

Kindness is based on the belief that everyone deserves care, attention, and compassion. Kind people think about others' needs and feelings and take action to help. They are selfless, helping others because it's the right thing to do, not for any personal gain.

People who are kind have a strong sense of duty to care for others. Their acts of kindness inspire more kindness in return.
