Dear Elden Students, Families, and Staff:

Good Morning!

Last week was full of excitement and celebration at Elden! Our Creativity Club performed The Wizard of Oz for the entire school community, and it was a wonderful showcase of student talent, teamwork, and creativity. We also had the pleasure of recognizing our next four P2 Character Trait nominees, who are pictured below. Congratulations to these students for demonstrating the traits that help make our school such a positive place to learn and grow.

As we head into this week, we are excited for a full week of school and continued learning together. The Senior Musical will also take place this weekend at the Baker High School auditorium for anyone who may be interested in attending.

We look forward to another great week ahead!

Winter Olympics Family Photo Collection

We are excited to celebrate a Math Winter Olympics theme during the month of February! We would love to feature our students on a bulletin board and/or during morning announcements.

We invite families to submit:
  • A photo of your child playing a sport or participating in a fun winter activity
  • One short sentence explaining how your child uses math in that sport
  • (For example: “I count my laps when I swim” or “I keep track of the score when I play basketball.”)
Please submit your photo and sentence using this form:  [ SUBMIT PHOTOS HERE ]

Photos and statements may be shared on a school bulletin board and/or during morning announcements throughout February.

Thank you for helping us show students how math is used in real life — on the field, court, ice, and beyond!

Staff Spotlight:

Mrs. Kotz

Linda Kotz, 2nd Grade Teacher

I have been an Elden Eagle for many years and love not only watching my students soar in second grade, but keeping track of what they are doing as they move through Elden and beyond. As my students will tell you, I love books and reading and I enjoy guiding my second graders in their reading journeys.

When I’m not at school, you can find me enjoying a good book or music, spending time with family and friends, getting out for a walk or hike or on a road trip. I love to travel and explore places both near and far. My favorite places are on or near the water, especially the St. Lawrence River where I grew up.

The Positivity Project:

P2

P2 Weekly Character Traits

This week, our school community will focus on the character strength of Forgiveness. Forgiveness means letting go of anger toward those who have done wrong and accepting that people make mistakes.

When we forgive, we can move past being hurt and make peace with what happened. Forgiveness heals and strengthens our relationships. It doesn’t erase what happened, but it helps us let go of the hurt and move forward.

Seeking forgiveness shows that a person values relationships and understands the impact of their actions. It shows humility, accountability, and a willingness to make amends. By seeking forgiveness, a person shows they care about resolving conflicts and restoring trust. It also shows emotional maturity and a commitment to personal growth.
