Students with their stuffies

Dear Elden Students, Families, and Staff:

I hope everyone enjoyed a restful and refreshing break! Before we jump into the week ahead, I want to take a moment to celebrate the wonderful week we had leading into vacation.

Our Spirit Week brought so much energy and excitement to the building, and it was a joy to see our school community come together in such a fun way. We were also treated to a fantastic concert from our beginner Band and Orchestra students. Their hard work and growth were truly on display. In addition, we are incredibly proud of the four students who represented Elden in the online portion of the Scripps National Spelling Bee. What an impressive accomplishment!

This week, we look forward to settling back into our routines and diving into meaningful learning. Families are invited to attend the district Community Café on Thursday at 6PM, focused on Project-Based Learning. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the engaging work happening in our classrooms.
Also on Thursday evening, we are excited for the All-District Band Concert, which will showcase the incredible talents of our student musicians from across the district.

We are also kicking off PARP (Pick a Reading Partner)! Our PTA has planned a series of fun activities centered around this year’s theme, “Everyone Has a Superpower.” We can’t wait to celebrate the power of reading together throughout the coming weeks.

To wrap up the week, the junior class will be hosting a district-wide dance for third graders on Friday night at Baker High School at 6PM.

We are looking forward to a great week back together and appreciate your continued partnership and support!

Winter Olympics Family Photo Collection

We are excited to celebrate a Math Winter Olympics theme during the month of February! We would love to feature our students on a bulletin board and/or during morning announcements.

We invite families to submit:
  • A photo of your child playing a sport or participating in a fun winter activity
  • One short sentence explaining how your child uses math in that sport
  • (For example: “I count my laps when I swim” or “I keep track of the score when I play basketball.”)
Please submit your photo and sentence using this form:  [ SUBMIT PHOTOS HERE ]

Photos and statements may be shared on a school bulletin board and/or during morning announcements throughout February.

Thank you for helping us show students how math is used in real life — on the field, court, ice, and beyond!

Mrs. Connors

Veronica Connors, Reading Intervention Teacher

Hi everyone! I am in my 27th year in the Baldwinsville School District! I have been a reading teacher for 25 years, including one year where I was a virtual 2nd grade teacher. Last year I was an administrative intern and acting 9th grade assistant principal at Durgee Junior High. This year I am split between Elden and Reynolds as a reading teacher.

I love organizing events! One of my most favorite was organizing the dedication of the new slide at Elden in rememberance of those students who have passed away that attended Elden.

I love spending time with my husband and two daughters Sophia 19, who is a sophomore in college, and Ariana 15, who is a sophomore at Baker. I enjoy planning trips, traveling, biking, playing golf, and watching The Bills with my family!

Cheering on Ariana at her lacrosse and volleyball games also makes my heart happy! Go Bees!

P2 Weekly Character Traits

This week, our school community will focus on the character strength of Humility. Humility means not seeking attention and letting your actions speak for themselves. Humble people understand their abilities and achievements without underestimating them. They can admit mistakes, accept advice, and are open to new ideas. They don't show off their successes or possessions.

Developing humility helps people reflect on how they can improve and work well with others. It allows them to grow and become valuable team members.
